Child and Baby Immunizations in Albuquerque

New Mexico School Requirements for Immunizations

Schools and day cares in New Mexico require certain immunizations in order for children to enroll. All vaccinations required in New Mexico schools can be completed before age 5 if they are started early.

Baby Immunizations in Albuquerque, NM

To ensure that your child’s health is protected, it is important to start vaccinations after your child is born. Our board-certified pediatricians can get your child started on all of the recommended baby immunizations, including:

  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B
  • Rotavirus
  • Diptheria, tetanus, and pertussis
  • Haemophilus influenza (Hib)
  • Pneumococcal
  • Polio
  • Measles, mumps, and rubella
  • Varicella
  • Flu shots

Vaccinations work by slowly building up antibodies in your baby’s body. Because this takes time, many baby immunizations require 3 or 4 doses to complete. High Desert Pediatrics, we ensure that your child gets every dose on time by working with your family’s schedules and unique needs. We also provide friendly reminder calls!

Schedule your baby’s immunizations with our pediatricians by calling 505-255-1866 or send us an email here!

Catch-Up Immunizations

No matter how old your child is, you can always start and continue vaccinations. Whether you’ve moved in the past few years or changed pediatricians a few times, High Desert Pediatrics can bring your child up to date on their immunizations so they can stay protected.

Our Immunization Policy

We believe that immunization is absolutely the best way to reduce the risk of serious and sometimes deadly infectious disease. We fully endorse and recommend following the immunization schedule that has been established by the ACIP (Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices) and adopted as standard of care by the CDC (Center for Disease Control) and AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics). Having said that, we also recognize the concerns that parents may have and that your child’s health and well-being depends on much more than immunizations. However, we must be absolutely clear that we only endorse the ACIP immunization and catch-up schedules. We are happy to discuss why individual immunizations are important but such discussions should not be considered a recommendation of an alternate immunization schedule. If you wish to immunize with certain vaccines but not others, or not immunize at all, that responsibility is entirely yours. Unless your child has a recognized and documented medical contraindication to doing immunizations as established by the ACIP, we will not provide medical exemptions.
