Choosing A PediatricianQ: I’m a mom-to-be. How often do you want to see the baby in the first year?

A: A standard newborn baby wellness check should be performed 1-3 days after discharge from the hospital. After that, we want to see the baby at the following intervals:

  • 2 weeks old
  • 2 months
  • 4 months
  • 6 months
  • 9 months
  • 12 months
  • 15 months
  • 18 months
  • 24 months

After 24 months, our pediatricians recommend annual well child visits unless your child requires special attention.

Q: Do you treat more than illnesses and injuries?

A: Yes. High Desert Pediatrics provides safety advice, feeding help, nutritional advice, behavioral assessments, and preventative medicine to help your family stay healthy.

Q: I’m a new patient. Will you see my sick child right away?

A: For new patients we will try to see them as soon as possible but depending on the reason for the visit it may not be same day. If they are already established patients with us it’s easier to get same day appointments.

Q: Will I always see a pediatrician?

A: Yes. At High Desert Pediatrics, there is a pediatrician in the office at all times and your child will always receive care from a doctor.

Q: Do you perform circumcisions?

A: Yes. High Desert Pediatrics performs circumcisions at our pediatric offices.

Q: Do you offer after-hours care?

A: We do not offer after hours care, but our doctors are available to answer your questions and give you medical advice at any hour. We are also open on Saturdays.

Q: How often do you recommend child wellness visits?

A: To ensure your child’s growth and development is on track, we will recommend more frequent wellness checks in the first two years of life. After that, our doctors may recommend annual wellness checks, depending on your child’s needs.
