Preventative Baby/Toddler Care With A Personal Touch
Wellness visits are important because they allow us to identify potential health issues and prevent problems before they happen. We practice personalized care, getting to know your child’s unique personality and your family’s medical history so we can pick up on any potential prolems right away.
What To Expect At A Newborn/Baby Wellness Visit
When you bring your child for a newborn or wellness visit they will receive quality care in a bright and comfortable environment.
Child wellness visits may include the following:
From toilet training to home safety, our Pediatric providers will answer all of your questions to ensure you have a full knowledge of your child’s health. If something is identified as a possible concern, you will be asked to schedule a follow up appointment for a more in-depth evaluation.
When To Schedule Newborn/Toddler Wellness Visits
Wellness checks are more frequent for newborns and toddlers. After having a baby, parents should schedule their first newborn doctor visit as seen below on our typical schedule. After that, newborn doctor visits should be scheduled every 1-3 months.
The typical schedule for Newborn/Toddler visits are as followed:
-24 to 48 hours after hospital discharge, 2 weeks, 1 month & 2 months
-4 months
-6 months
-9 months
-12 months
-15 months
-18 months
– After 2 years of age, Wellness checks are done once a year thereafter
For child wellness and newborn visits, High Desert Pediatrics is always available to provide quality care.
New Mexico School Requirements for Immunizations
Schools and daycares in New Mexico require certain immunizations in order for children to enroll. All vaccinations required in New Mexico schools can be completed before age 5 if they are started on time by our Pediatric providers.
Immunizations include:
Vaccinations work by slowly building up antibodies in your baby’s body. Because this takes time, many baby immunizations require 3 or 4 doses to complete. We ensure that your child gets every dose on time by working with your family’s schedules and unique needs.
No matter how old your child is, you can always start and continue vaccinations. Whether you’ve moved in the past few years or changed Pediatricians a few times, we can bring your child up to date on their immunizations so they can stay protected.
